| *Maples can always be relied on to provide a treat for the admirers of fall foliage. The
above image
of a bright yellow Vine Maple was taken in September,
among the large old conifers near Lost Lake in the Mount Hood National Forest
of Oregon. The brightly colored Vine
Maples and solemn old conifers create a scene well worth the search.
In the above image, we noticed that the leaves of the Vine Maple exhibited a common, planar orientation. We also observed that other Vine Maples in the area did not exhibit this property.
