Colorful Mexican Dancer Nudibranch on a red Sea Fan. Isla San Pedro Nolasco, Sea of Cortez, Sonora, Mexico Depth 30 feet or 9 meters |
*The Mexican Dancer Nudibranch (Elysia diomedea,) formerly known as (Tridachiella diomedea, ) was everywhere abundant on our dive in February. We spotted this individual on a red Sea Fan (Gorgonia adamsi ?), where it remained for a while, then was swept away by wave action that accompanied a building storm. We saw no evidence that this individual was feeding on polyps, as, for example, does the Caribbean Flamingo Tongue Mollusk. |
