Shallow pools of red algae at Grand Prismatic Spring

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

*At Grand Prismatic Spring (Midway Basin), in Yellowstone National Park, the gentle flow of heated water spreads out in terraces, and red algae thrives in the warm, shallow water. This colorful region can keep a photographer occupied for hours, finding everywhere new and different colors and patterns.  This image was chosen for permanent display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City, New York as 'Red Algal Bloom'.  -  June
