*For three very cold days in early
January, we were at bivouac near Old Woman Springs in Indian Hollow.
We sat waiting and hoping for a dense snowstorm to break over the Organ
Mountains. We awoke the third morning to a hint of clearing . As
we climbed to a chosen viewpoint on the old Red Dot Route to upper
Indian Hollow, the storm passed and the
fog rapidly began to lift from the Rabbit Ear Spires. For a
few moments, the early morning light lent a warm color to the
Spires, and the wind had not yet removed the delicate frosting from the vegetation.
We were able to snap a few images before wind cleared the vegetation of
snow, and we were left under a cloudless sky.
