To Mimi

The earth holds treasures manifold,
Flaming rubies, yellow gold,
The blaze of sunsets on the seas,
The scent of jasmine on the breeze,

The flush of dawn on ocean crest,
The graceful shark's eternal quest,
The Wall, at thirty fathoms down,
The angelfish with regal crown,

The midnight world that few may see,
That lies beneath the darkened sea,
Where corals bloom, and well may be,
One spies the shy anemone.

But far of greater worth to me,
A sight I'm privileged to see,
When after work I homeward fare,
My wife who waits to greet me there.
