At spots deep off the walls at Astrolabe Reef, where currents are slight, we found dwarf forests of arboreal
Soft Corals.
Astrolabe Reef, Kadavu, Fiji - Depth 220 feet or 67 meters
*The Soft Coral pictured above was one of a considerable colony located on the gentle slopes at the base of a near-vertical wall. Many of the corals appeared to reach over a meter in height. This colorful example was attached to a large boulder located a short distance from the wall. |
