At spots deep off the walls at Astrolabe Reef, where currents are slight, we found dwarf forests of arboreal Soft Corals.

*The Soft Coral pictured above was one of a considerable colony located on the gentle slopes at the base of a near-vertical wall.  Many of the corals appeared to reach over a meter in height.  This colorful example was attached to a large boulder located a short distance from the wall.
