*From late October to Early November, wildfires plagued Southern California. From the fires, a pall of smoke drifted to the western horizon of New Mexico. From this smoke resulted a night or two with really spectacular sunsets. This image was taken taken off the access road to Dripping Springs Recreation Area, located on the western slopes of the Organ Mountains of New Mexico, east of Las Cruces. In silhouette are three large Mountain Torrey Yuccas, the two on the right capped by old seed clusters. The spider like arms of the Ocotillo are also clearly visible Early November |
