Tan sponge (Agelus sp.), unidentified white sponges, Orange Thread Gorgonian (Ellisella
sp.), and juvenile Trumpetfish. |
* A well-filled habitat.
Located in a protected overhanging vertical wall, it is rich with life. Most
noticeable are sprays of Orange Thread Gorgonian ( Ellisella sp.),
and an unidentified white Demosponge, others are visible in the
background.
Filling the lower left of the image is a tan sponge (Agelus sp.) perhaps
(Agelus schmidti). Hiding under the Ellisella is a juvenile
Trumpetfish (Aulostomus maculatus). This little fish, if
lucky, will grow to be a large and formidable predator. North Wall, Grand Cayman Island - Depth 130 feet or 40 meters - Time 11: 30 am |
