A Group of Sandhill Cranes copes with the skim of ice on their roosting pond by keeping in motion.
Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, New Mexico - Early February
|*This group of cranes appeared to be less than overjoyed by conditions in the frozen pond. They clustered where they were able to break through the ice to the bottom, and continually shifted from one foot to the other. Probably this served to keep the ice from freezing about them.|
